Listen "1. Hurricane to Healing"
Episode Synopsis
On my first episode of Shuvra Deb: With You, I discuss my devastating experience of going through Hurricane Irma, one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes on record to make landfall, which hit the British Virgin Islands on 6 September 2017. The experience led me to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for over a year before I realised that I had PTSD. I describe some of the dire situations we found ourselves in during this mammoth storm and how we dealt with those live or death moments. I then go on to talk about how essential it is that we all confront, deal with and start to heal from mental illness and trauma.
