Listen "Moving Through Depression"
Episode Synopsis
No one term, diagnosis, or feeling fully encompasses one's essence. And depression is no different. The nature of the feeling, however, is all encompassing. In this episode, I talk about my experience with depression and the tools I've found helpful to get me through the tunnel. All feelings are like waves, they must go up in order to come down, but the ride can certainly be smoother. I reference an amazing book I'm reading right now called No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz. And I also recommend a book called The Depression Cure by my friend, Stephen Ilardi. A couple of quotes I've been loving: "If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility." & "I suspect that beneath it all is not an acceptance of but the longing for an acceptance of the elemental interplay between darkness and light, beauty and sorrow, mortality and meaning — the longing we transmute into meaning, that great act of creation."
