Listen "#44 Rebellion, Empty Religion and the Branch (Isaiah 1-4)"
Episode Synopsis
During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are continuing in our series on the book of Isaiah! Today we cover the first four chapters of the book, which really set the stage for the rest of the book. God’s people had strayed from Him a thousand times - rebellion, pride, idolatry, empty religion, oppressing the marginalized and more. Their hearts were far from Him. And although there would be consequences for their sin, God promised restoration and redemption for those who turned back to Him. We too stray from God in a thousand ways. Our hearts are prone to wander, our minds distracted, and our actions often betray what we say we believe. But God is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. When we see ourselves in the children of Israel on the pages of Isaiah, we can know that our God is the same God today as He was then. He promises redemption in Jesus. So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and your Isaiah Bible Study, and join me on the pages of God’s Word.
