What is the point of studying a dead language?  Is there any practical value in learning about ancient architecture, lyric poetry, and philosophy?  What can someone gain from a major in the humanities? In this episode, the topic of discussion was "why study Classics" with Dr. Matthew Gorey.  Dr. Gorey is the BKT Assistant Professor of Classics at Wabash College, where he specializes in Greek and Latin literature, especially in medieval European reception.  In a time where concern about personal marketability is extremely high, Dr. Gorey explains why one might want to learn about "dead white men."  Additionally, you can expect to learn more about what it means to study Classics, some of the practical benefits of learning about the civilizations of the past, pedagogical strategy in an all-male educational setting, and much more.
