Listen "Say NO To Lashon Hara Day 20"
Episode Synopsis
In today's episode, we discuss the importance of the Beit Knesset (synagogue) and Beit Midrash (study hall) as the small temples that allow us to connect with God in the absence of the Beit HaMikdash (Holy Temple). Speaking idle chatter in these holy places is already considered inappropriate, but speaking lashon hara (evil speech) indicates a lack of belief in God's presence. This action drains the holiness from these places and has severe consequences in the higher worlds. The Hafetz Chaim warns against speaking lashon hara during the Torah reading or Kaddish, as it not only disgraces God but also disregards the importance of the Torah and creates a Chilul Hashem (desecration of God's name). This behavior results in missed opportunities for blessings and the loss of time that could have been spent in solemn prayer.
