Do you know why you want some of the things you are praying for? Have you taken a moment to ask yourself why you desire it? Sometimes, we should search our hearts to discover the true intent for wanting something. God searches the heart of the man. He looks at the intent of our ask, and the true reason why we are asking. We may be able to fool man, but we cannot fool God.  We should not ask Him for anything if what we are asking for aligns with things such as jealousy, selfish ambition, or trying to prove something to someone in our past.
