VOICE ACTOR (UK)
VOICE ACTOR’s music buzzes like a brain. It vibrates, oscillates and turns strange stimuli into electrical waves. Their 2022 album Sent From My Telephone sometimes felt less like music than neural entertainment: a gargantuan sketchbook, nearly four and a half hours long, blending spoken-word poetry, distorted samples, and noirish drones. That epic transmission confirmed Voice Actor as one of the most mysterious acts on Belgian’s outsider-music label Stroom led by Ziggy Devriendt aka Nosedrip.
In January 2025 Noa Kurzweil aka VOICE ACTOR released Lust (1) together with obscure Welsh producer Squu – an album which gracefully alternates between sensual ambient with soft gestures of two-step /garage and downbeat/dub. Though more compact than her debut, the new album’s hazy blend of blown-out ambient and indecipherable murmurs taps into a similarly delirious dream state. Even in its vaguest and most abstract moments, Lust (1) possesses sharp expressive powers. It mimics that state of good sex when thresholds explode and all logic flushes out.
Kurzweil renders words beautifully, in a tactile and onomatopoeic way. Her voice abstractions glow even more keenly, as she forfeits meaning to phonemes.

Solo Isa (1/2 of Bara & Isa) is a Vienna based musician. She co-hosts the (currently on pause) radio show Sad*Crab Radio and is working on "new songs from meraviglia" (a collaboration with Verschrin), solo material as well as new material for Bara & Isa.
