It is anchored by the powerful performances of Elizabeth Banks and Lewis Pullman, and director Austin Peters does a good job of extracting humor and suspense from its frequently ridiculous characters and plot points. Skincare, however, may have been something more meaningful if it had been directed by a more capable individual or if the movie was prepared to take greater risks.
