John 14:13-16, 15:16, 16:23-26
To ask in Jesus' name, as taught in John 14-16, is not a formula for getting what one wants, but a call to pray in alignment with Christ's will and authority. Jesus prepared His disciples to approach the Father with confidence, assuring them that their prayers would be heard and answered when offered in His name. Asking in Jesus' name means seeking God's glory, bearing spiritual fruit, and experiencing the joy of a relationship with the Father. It is both a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility, granted to those who belong to Christ and are committed to His purposes.
