Psalm 1 lays out the blueprint for a blessed life. Happiness is found by avoiding worldly counsel, standing apart from sin, and delighting in God’s Word. A righteous person meditates on Scripture day and night, becoming like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season, and prospering in life. The ungodly, however, are like chaff blown away by the wind, unable to stand in judgment or join the righteous. The psalm emphasizes living in the world but not of the world, delighting in God’s Word, and bearing spiritual fruit through the power of the Holy Spirit.
