This article uncovers how perimenopausal women are subtly yet systematically pushed toward hysterectomy under a neoliberal healthcare system that thrives on consumerism and control.Using collaborative autoethnography, the authors tell the story of Shalaka—a woman advised to undergo hysterectomy for a benign uterine fibroid. But behind the recommendation lies something more sinister: ambiguous risk categorization, coercive practices, and the quiet violence of dehumanization. The system, wrapped in the language of choice and empowerment, paradoxically strips women of their agency, making them feel powerless while convincing them they are in control.This is more than just a critique of medical institutions.
