RelevantWhat does this word mean?  I hear all of the time;  churches claim to be relevant; people claim to relevant; this organization or that organization claims to relevant. We see that word pushed in our face all of the time! I honestly get tired of how often it is used. When I hear that word, I feel like Someone is about to try and sell me something. So what does it mean?The definition of relevant is:“Appropriate to the current time, period, or circumstances; of contemporary interest.”In the context of the church and us as believers, I believe there is a word that we should be focused on way more than relevant. That word is authentic. To be authentic means to be “genuine and to have an undisputed origin.”  When people look at us they had better see Jesus. They need to see the hope, love, joy, peace, and holiness that come from being transformed by Jesus. So stop trying to be relevant. Be authentic. I promise if you genuinely reflect Christ, then you will be relevant and you won’t have to advertise it!Support the show
