Episode Synopsis

Wow a little more than halfway home with this sixth episode of our 10 week series of Single Again! Stable, Secure and Successful!   Linda and Rachel unpack the topic on boundaries.  We all have heard about them but do we really understand the basics - what are Boundaries, why should you have them, and how to create them.  Single Again can be a particularly dicey time especially when it's fresh and you leave your significant other and you’re on your own for the first time in a LOOOONG time.  What do you need to keep in mind when you have just gone separate directions (either Divorce, Separation or a break up from a long term relationship).  This new status change can bring up new stresses that you can’t anticipate.  Linda and Rachel discuss a few insights in how you can best arm and protect yourself from any messy emotions that might be lurking around the corner.  Thinking about a self-care strategy is important to plan in advance and boundaries allow you to reclaim your power and stay focused on the new life you are trying to innovate.
Journaling Prompts:

Think of a present situation (or recent past)  that caused you to get angry or made you resentful.  Write it down just the facts…then document why it might be making you upset (angry or resentful)?
Use that same situation - Is there something that you could have done to prevent the situation? (Brainstorm even impossible solutions)  If you lacked a boundary, how could creating a boundary assist you with this issue?   Did you enforce your boundary?  What can you do to prevent this from happening in the future?
Put together a list of values that are important for you to maintain as you establish a new life for yourself as you become Single again?  Narrow this list down to your top 10.  What are guidelines/rules/boundaries you could create to ensure these values aren’t compromised in order to keep them intact? Who do you need to share this with?
