It's worth understanding a simple format so that you can communicate clearly and effectively. Pre-Work - Get clear on your boundary beforehand. "If you do this again, I will ______." Step 1 - Get Vulnerable - Communicate your emotional experience in the moment. "I feel nervous bringing this up, and it feels important to me." Step 2 - Get Permission - "Are you open to hearing me?" Step 3 - Specific Event + Feeling - "When you _______, I felt ______." Let that land for them without rescuing, sugar coating, or over-explaining.
