This morning, by God’s Grace, we are going to witness and celebrate 5 baptisms. Baptisms ought to have a similar quality to them. As we listen to each of these individuals sharing their story of how God saved them we get to reflect on our own experience of God’s grace. And as we watch and listen to them declare through baptism what Christ has done in their lives 
we have an opportunity to participate in a sense... as we reflect on what Christ has done in our own lives and remember and reaffirm that statement what we made.
Some of us recently,
Some of us many years ago.

But we can only do that to the extent that we understand what baptism is all about. The richer our understanding of our salvation and the meaning behind baptism and the transformation that it symbolizes the richer our experience and our worship will be as we reflect and celebrate.

And let me just say, the reality that lies behind baptism is so so much richer, than it is often portrayed and understood to be in our day and age.
