The cross of Jesus was foretold in prophecy hundreds of years prior to Him stepping into human history. The details and precision that unfold in this amazing section of Isaiah are nothing short of miraculous. Not only are the details incredible, but the motive of God is on clear display. Why would God put on human flesh and step into our weakness, only to be rejected, ridiculed, mocked, beaten, tortured, and executed? And further...how could this be considered something that "pleased the Lord"? The dichotomy of Jesus being exalted and executed seem to be at odds with one another until we understand that all of this was God's plan to rescue us. Jesus paid the price He did not owe, because you owed a price you could not pay. The joy set before Jesus is the joy of saving you. Will you believe in Jesus's sacrifice for you? Will you trade your sin for His holiness?
