The approach to classroom management requires a completely different mindset today. In the past, compliance was a given and support at home was not in question. Today, teachers must strive to reach EVERY student and hold them ALL to high expectations. They must do this while there are other factors that remain in question (Student Support at Home, Student Accountability, and the Stress of Standardized Tests).
