Listen "The Results Are In: Mild Neurocognitive Disorder"
Episode Synopsis
In this heart-to-heart episode of Recovery Daily, I share the results of my neuropsychiatric evaluation. It's a mix of emotions as I unpack the diagnosis: mild neurocognitive disorder. While there's a sense of relief in having a name for the challenges I've faced since my stroke, particularly with memory and information processing, it's also a sobering moment. The confirmation that the stroke has indeed altered my brain's functioning is a tough to accept.
But, as always, I'm focused on moving forward. Armed with five pages of recommendations to exercise my brain, I'm ready to embrace this new chapter of recovery with hope and determination. I will adapt. Why? Because there is no other option. I will strengthen my cognitive abilities over time.
Also on my immediate agenda are some critical action steps: scheduling an appointment with an otolaryngologist and undergoing an MRI of my ears. Though it might sound unusual, these are crucial steps in exploring the visual impairments and migraines I've been experiencing, which may stem from a vestibular disorder.
Join me in this episode as I navigate these fresh waters, armed with resilience and an open heart. The little victory is that I've checked off another item on my list of recovery to-do's. We can learn and grow from our experiences, no matter how daunting they may seem.
