She teaches in the Department of Education and Human Development at the University of New Orleans. Shepherd’s first book, Resistance from the Right: Conservatives and the Campus Wars is forthcoming in 2023 from the University of North Carolina Press. Her second book is a historical survey of American colleges and universities since the 1960s. In addition to research and writing, she enjoys teaching Pilates and practicing yoga.
