According to Mythicists like David Fitzgerald and Richard Carrier, Biblical scholarship as a field cannot be trusted. It is overrun by Christians who ruthlessly punish anyone who steps out of line, and because of this scholars in the field can't disagree with the dogma of Jesus' existence even if they wanted to!
