Listen "Question for Hatalii: “Why bother?” "
Episode Synopsis
Hataałii is a Diné (Navajo) singer, songwriter, and poet born Hataałiinez Wheeler in Window Rock, AZ, the capital of the Navajo Nation. His name comes from the Navajo term ‘hatałii’, also spelled ‘yataalii’, which means ‘singer’ in English. Singers are medicine men who perform traditional healing ceremonies and blessing rites intended to protect and cure the body, mind, and spirit. Hataałii's music focuses on obscurantist details giving way to trenchant observations about paranoia, accountability, and postcolonial fallout. Hataałii also confronts the nuanced challenges and perceptions around the indigenous community. He currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ••• https://dangerbirdrecords.com/artists/hataalii/ https://ffm.to/brownfooleyes https://linktr.ee/Hataalii ••• Interview conducted by Marco Rixecker https://www.amazon.com/author/marcorixecker••• Why bother? 2 questions, 5 senses...
