Listen "Episode 54: Eric "
Episode Synopsis
And now for something completely different. This week the Masters of None take a look at the brand-new puppet Netflix mini-series, Eric. After previous guest, Beccy Henderson, told us she had worked on it, we knew this thing was going to be special. We did not anticipate just how out of our normal realm of puppet content we would find ourselves. This dark a gritty 1980's cop drama is much more intense than anything we've ever analyzed. With themes of loss, mental illness, abuse and death, this version of New York City is about as far away from Sesame Street as you can get, even if it does have its own 6-foot-tall walk about puppet character. Does Benedict Cumberbatch finally give us a puppetry film for adults that doesn't fall into the same old stale trap of grossout humor and shock value? You'll just have to listen in to find out!WARNING: This episode contains discussions of themes of loss, death, suicide, mental illness, drug use, trafficking, and physical, domestic, and sexual abuse. Listener discretion is advised. WARNING: This episode contains spoiler for the Netflix limited series, Eric.
