Czarnowski explains the dangers of bloodborne pathogens contracted by seemingly minor scrapes, cuts and pokes. These injuries can occur during Operating Room setup and teardown and in the Sterile Processing department (SPD), both in decontamination and on the clean side. To limit the potential dangers, Czarnowski offers considerations for proper sharps education as well as best practices for sharps disposal.
