There’s a problem with academia that the general public is not aware of now but that’s changing, especially with A.I. Even before that, half of all scientific papers were not reproducible, and many of them were ghostwritten. A.I. will magnify this problem significantly. The underlying problem is that getting advanced degrees has been a substitute for getting a real job when people have to do something productive. Firstly, they can’t find a job, and secondly, they’re not competent to perform it, regardless of whatever a degree may suggest. Academics is quickly sliding into irrelevancy because of this.

One of the most insidious results is that scientific rigor has been almost completely politicized. Search engines and A.I. now deliver answers to queries carefully tailored to whoever pays the most. The autocomplete function when typing in a question includes only negative choices, and the first few pages of results are biased links, not the most pertinent. Polling data is another visible example of this corruption: of the dozens of polling organizations, only a handful deliver trustworthy data; the rest provide results biased towards the opinion of whoever is paying for it. Science is another institution that has been co-opted by the Left, the most egregious example being Climate Change, which is ideological, not factual, as are other important issues of the day, like whether a fetus is a baby, or all the myriad hoaxes attacking Trump. The vaxx against a sham pandemic might have been the biggest corruption of science of all time. It’s unclear if data can come back from this.
