Listen "Psoas: Trauma, Tension & Trouble"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, Posture Ellie talks us through the physical role of the Psoas (the deepest core muscle, responsible for lumbar stabilisation and keeping us upright) and also the emotional role of the Psoas (in terms of it's connection to stress and how it stores trauma and stress in the body). Tension in the Psoas muscle is a) very common due to the amount of time we keep it in contraction whilst sat down b) a large contributor to most people's pain, no matter where it presents in the body. Tension in the Psoas drags the knees and legs out of alignment, the lumbar spine and ribcage out of alignment and means the head and shoulders can't sit comfortably. It's a really big deal and is why it's the muscle most tackled through our corrective posture exercises.Recommended Reading - The Psoas Release Party by Jonathan FitzgordonPhoto of Psoas - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psoas_major_muscleOther Info- Pre-order my book ‘Posture Power’ - https://watkinspublishinglinks.com/posture-power- Start your one month free trial of The Posture Squad - https://posture-ellie.com/the-posture-squadWebsite - posture-ellie.comYouTube & Socials - @postureellieCredits for Intro theme: Life is Good 2 by Beat Mekanik, Source: Free Music Archive, License Type: CC BY
