The ASBMB William C. Rose Award for Exemplary Contributions to Education recognizes an individual who demonstrates an exceptional contribution to the teaching of biochemistry and molecular biology. Peter J. Kennelly is a professor at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he also serves as interim head of the biochemistry department. Kennelly earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1985 and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Washington School of Medicine with support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
