Listen "Episode 323: Pioneers of Country October 30, 2011"
Episode Synopsis
Pioneers of Country October 30, 2011
We begin with a timely tune by David Allan Coe – The Ride.
Dave promises some Halloween related tunes. Andy Griffith is up next with “The Fishing Hole”.
Dave explains that there are many songs never before heard on the Pioneers of Country playlist being added this week and he will play a few of them on today's live show. As an example, David Houston – No Tell Motel is next, followed by Mel McDaniel - “Stand Up”.
"Haunted Heart" is a song written by Buddy Brock and Kim Williams, and recorded by American country music artist Sammy Kershaw is next. Dave says hello to Julie from Germany who is listening.
Time for some honky tonk music, Highway 101 and "Honky Tonk Heart". Julie requested an Alan Jackson tune. Dave didn't have that particular song, but he played “Just Playing Possum” (a tribute to George Jones) instead. Dave follows that up with a George Jones song - Stranger In The House - with Elvis Costello (who wrote the song).
That's the first 30 minutes, there's 102 minutes to go...
They were forgotten by The Country Music Industry, Country Radio, and even The Grand Ole Opry – Pioneers of Country proudly remember those artists, and the music they made popular.
