Listen "#44 Multitasking: good or bad?"
Episode Synopsis
How many things can you do without it taking a toll on the result? Not very many at all, in my opinion. Yes, some mechanical things can be done simultaneously, whereas some shouldn't; like driving and putting on mascara, or having dinner with our family and checking our phone. In today's episode I share some of my thoughts around how to avoid and limit how much we multitask, in order to maximize the output of our invested time. 1) Know your priorities. Do what is most important to you first. Not what is most urgent to someone else. 2) Plan into your agenda exactly when you are going to do it. To say "sometime this week" is just not good enough, and will likely not happen sometime this week. 3) Make sure you do that thing, and only that thing, until it's been completed, or at least a large part of the work has been done. Do only that thing, especially when you are interacting with other humans. 4) If you're up for a challenge: put your phone away for a day and focus deep on your tasks, without having the constant distraction of "just checking" the phone, your social media, messages, the news and your email. Good luck with focusing on your one thing!
