Listen "24_Time to refresh-Productivity series"
Episode Synopsis
It has been scientifically and psychologically confirmed that productivity is higher when one takes breaks at reasonable intervals to refresh the brain. It gives the brain the opportunity to produce at its best. In carrying out mental tasks and activities, the brain uses up a lot of body energy and calories. Continuous mental activity can be exhausting. According to Carson Tate, founder and managing partner of the management consultancy Working Simply, ‘The brain is only 2 percent of the body total mass, but it consumes 20 percent of the body’s calories.’ It is significant to understand that your brain needs to refresh itself from time to time. We sometimes feel like we will be more productive if we just go on firing on all cylinders, but it has been proven that the law of diminishing returns sets in at some stage if we continue with unbroken mental activity. Giving your brain a breather allows it to refuel and re-energise, keeping you productive. How can you take advantage of your break time to enhance your work time? Enjoy and leave me a comment.
