Listen "9. How to Stop Buffering"
Episode Synopsis
One of several things that I teach is how to stop buffering. Buffering includes overeating, overdrinking, overshopping, overscrolling on social media, etc. - really anything that is done in excess that ultimately has a negative impact on us. Many of us buffer because we aren't allowing ourselves to feel unpleasant emotions. Instead of feeling them, we avoid them by taking part in something that temporarily brings us pleasure. Our brains are engineered to avoid discomfort and seek pleasure, but in our modern lives, it's important to keep in mind that unpleasant feelings will usually go away if we just allow ourselves to feel our feelings. We have thoughts about our feelings, and we are fully in charge of what we think about our feelings. Listen in as I share some tips on how to stop buffering, but remember that this doesn't happen overnight. Celebrate every little win and every little sign of progress. You will come to the understanding that your buffering isn't the problem; the cause of the buffering is. Show Highlights what is buffering? why do we buffer? why we should allow ourselves to feel unpleasant emotions how we experience feelings but we are not our feelings why we need to acknowledge and celebrate every little win tips on how to stop buffering Resources Sheila's Website Email me: [email protected]
