Listen "#101 | Faith to Keep Moving Towards the Promise Land - Part 1"

Episode Synopsis

In this episode we start journeying with the Israelites through the wilderness in book of Numbers. Specifically, we look at the famous story of the 12 leaders sent to spy out the Promised Land in Numbers 13-14. We take a closer look at their struggle to believe God's word when everything around them said "It's not going to happen." One of their basic problems was that they allowed what they saw with their eyes to contradict what they heard God say with their ears. They chose to speak out loud a negative future, instead of speaking out loud the future God had already spoken to them.

When it seems like progress is impossible and we're not going to reach the finish line, we're tempted to give up, and even turn back to a former stage of life. To give up and go back to a previous stage of life is to miss the mark - to sin. We can't allow our circumstances to deceive us and convince us that what we "see" is what we "get". The book of Hebrews says, "Don't be like those who did not listen to the voice of God and believe his word. Do not harden your heart, rebel, and resist his leadership. Instead, be like Jesus who was faithful and completed his journey with God." The practical way we do this is by refusing to harden our heart, and by staying connected with people who will encourage us daily to align our perspective with God's perspective.
