Listen "Why We Never Use Stop Losses"
Episode Synopsis
Stop losses sound ideal. Buy a stock and limit your downside to whatever amount you're comfortable with - great! Not so much. Stop loss orders should really be called "realize loss" orders as they lock in your losses leaving you to guess when and how to get back in.
And if you don't want to get back in, then why did you even buy the stock to begin with? Stop loss orders simply have no place in the portfolio of a long-term investor, someone who wants to build wealth over the next few decades and isn't trying to speculate on short-term price action.
