Establishing himself as a renowned bioinformatician, Dr. McArthur has focused extensively on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research and founded the highly cited Comprehensive Antibiotic Resistance Database (CARD) to facilitate genomic surveillance of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria. His biocuration expertise placed him on the front lines of Canada’s COVID-19 response where he plays a vital role in whole genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2.
