Episode Synopsis
Many factors contribute to our individual pain experience including physical, sensory and behavioural factors. Also our sociocultural, cognitive, and spiritual beliefs.
But what about Menopause? Why is pain more common as we approach and traverse this time?
Could our our fluctuating hormonal levels have a part to play? In short the answer is YES!
Join me and members of the menopause collective for this conversation as we explore the complex topic that is pain.
We unpick the many drivers of pain and offer our suggestions for simple self help measures to manage our experience of pain.
Our Top Tips:
Food is medicine and consuming sugar really can increase the underlying level of inflammation in the body.
Movement is Medicine and strong muscles will support and reduce stresses and stains on the joints.
Catch unhelpful thoughts like whats really wrong with me? is it something really bad happening? Our thoughts, generate emotions, which generate sensations and so challenging the thoughts and feelings that we place on pain can be a way to interrupt the pain and worry cycle.
Resist the temptation to restrict your activities and experiment with a can do approach to managing pain.
