Other than Rosh Hashanah, in Israel we keep 1 day Yomtov whereas everywhere else we keep 2 days. According to some this distinction doesn't apply nowadays and even in Israel, two days should be kept. Although this is not the way we act, we nevertheless highlight the difference between living in the time of full Jewish sovereignty in Israel where Torah practice is the norm, and nowadays where the State needs to be a secular State and needs to conform to some degree at least, to the dictates of the Nations.
