Clint, do you mind introducing yourself and telling us a bit about what you do?Clint Chico is an inner-city high school teacher and a YA author. Since 2020, he's been writing books that primarily focus on LGBTQ characters and a diverse cast of characters. He teaches video production at a school of the arts, where his students fit into these demographics broadly. Clint is passionate about increasing representation in pop culture for his African American, Hispanic, Latino, and LGBTQ students, as well as for his own kids.In this episode, Clint shares his journey from videography and TV production to teaching and writing novels. He discusses the challenges and joys of writing his first book during the pandemic, the creative process behind his stories, and the importance of representation in his work.
