Ski Report for Mammoth Mountain, CaliforniaDaily Ski Conditions for Mammoth Mountain, California# Mammoth Mountain Snow Report – December 1, 2025Well, shredders, if you were hoping for a powder day at Mammoth right now, grab a seat because we need to talk about what's actually happening on the mountain. As of today, Mammoth Mountain is currently operating with 16 trails open out of 180 total, with 1 out of 10 lifts spinning. That's a pretty lean opening, but hey, that's what early December looks like at high elevation sometimes. The mountain is showing daytime highs around 38 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit at the summit, with overnight lows dropping to the low 20s. At the base in Mammoth Lakes village, you're looking at highs in the upper 40s and lows around 25 degrees. Not exactly jacket weather for the flatland folks, but perfectly reasonable for early season shredding if you're geared up properly.Historically, December is one of Mammoth's best months for snowfall, averaging around 67 inches. The good news is that even though we're starting slow right now, the long-range forecasts are painting a pretty optimistic picture for the season ahead. Climate models are suggesting weak La Niña conditions developing through the winter, which historically correlates with above-average snowfall in the Sierra Nevada. We're talking 129 percent of the 30-year average based on similar past seasons. January through February is shaping up to be the real action window, with multiple storm systems expected to roll through and potentially lower snow levels, which means more consistent white stuff across different elevations. The next five days look relatively quiet, with conditions expected to stay dry and clear through early next week, with temperatures gradually warming slightly before potentially shifting. This gives the mountain time to focus on snowmaking operations, which Mammoth has running full-throttle from late October through February anyway. Even in lean years, that 46-trail snowmaking setup ensures solid skiing through the holidays.Right now, the immediate reality is that Mammoth is running on mostly groomed terrain and a few natural snow patches mixed with manufactured snow. Piste conditions are firm and groomed, which honestly is perfect for building base depth and getting the mountain ready for the powder that's coming. Off-piste terrain is pretty limited at the moment, but that's totally normal for the first week of December at any resort. The best advice if you're planning a trip? Wait about 7 to 10 days before locking in your travel plans. That's when forecasters can see approaching storm systems with real confidence. Mammoth typically has multiple runs open by Thanksgiving, and as we roll deeper into December, expect significant terrain expansion and deeper bases as winter storms start rolling in regularly. The season stretches through June, so there's plenty of time to catch epic conditions. Just be patient and watch for that mid-week update when storms start lining up on the forecast. The best deals on gear https://amzn.to/49QUryFThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI
