Listen "Special: The City of Lund and international students (part 1)"
Episode Synopsis
On the podcast, we've covered a lot on what Lund University has to offer its students, but what about support, guidance, and community from the local authority? The city of Lund (Lunds kommun, or Lund Municipality) is engaged in many initiatives and projects that aim to support internationals in the region, from helping them to settle in and find a community to learning Swedish and securing work. In this special double-length episode - the first of two parts - host Timothy Parker (LU Corporate Communications) was lucky enough to sit down with two different panels of guests, representing different projects associated with the City of Lund:First up is Lisa Andersson of Lund's International Citizen Hub and Megan Phillips, a current international student at Lund University with first-hand experience of attending the International Citizen Hub. Together they discuss the Hub and its role in providing a welcoming community space to all internationals in and around Lund, offering help and guidance to those newly arrived in Sweden, as well as chances for socialising over fika, networking events, language cafes, and much, much more. Then, we speak to Christian Halberg, Viktoria Nilsson, and Daniel Mirdamadian about their respective involvement in the Cross-Border Talent Bridge project, which is led by the City of Lund and Copenhagen Capacity, and aims to attract and retain international, specialised talent within the Öresund region. Whether you're already interested in building a career in southern Sweden or Denmark or are open to options after graduating, don't miss this discussion, where our panel dives deep into the project and just what makes the Öresund region so attractive to international graduates and professionals.
