Listen "Episode 70: Shake Hands With a Farmer"
Episode Synopsis
The Love Sweetie Podcast is a unique historical project that features real letters from Kathryn Frances Demaree Graham a.k.a. "Sweetie" that were written during her lifetime. These authentic letters are narrated and commented on by the hosts of the show (who give context on what is being discussed). This episode features four pieces of correspondence that Sweetie wrote in October 1949, and she describes to her family what it is like living at her new house at County Line Rd in Hatboro, PA (on the Bucks County side). We learn more about the sale of the Graham family home in Collingdale, Pennsylvania. And then we learn about Sweetie's gardening activities, and her interaction with another neighbor, the farmer upon whose land her house had been built. We learn more about the farmer at the end of the episode, as the story is told regarding how historical information was found for him, despite some of the difficulty in searching for details about his life, and discuss the importance of the farmers in our daily lives. For more information, please go to www.lovesweetiepodcast.com.
