A questioner asks if enjoying sex, smoking and eating junk food is aligned with the path of spiritual awakening or if it comes from a distortion of the pleasure seeking mind.
Any attempt to be a 'spiritual person' by behaving and speaking a certain way, wearing certain types of clothes, eating a certain diet etc is simply the conceptual self trying to uphold a desired self image. When all self images fall away, including the 'spiritual' self image, what remains is actually the unknown.

It is out of the unknown of the present moment that aligned expression arises. So, in order to know what is reallly true for you in any given moment you must first be fully present. Discernment and radical honesty are also required because the conceptual self can have sneaky methods of convincingly justifying distorted behaviors. Ultimately, only you know what is really true for you in any given moment and taking full responsibility for that knowing is in itself part of the maturing process on the spiritual path.
