The Detroit Tigers mounted a thrilling comeback to edge out the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park. After falling behind 3-0 by the 5th inning, the Detroit Tigers clawed back with a two-run rally in the bottom of the 6th, sparked by a Colt Keith triple that brought in Matt Vierling and a follow-up RBI single by Kerry Carpenter. The decisive moment came in the 8th inning when Colt Keith drove in Riley Greene to tie the game, and Justyn-Henry Malloy's sacrifice fly allowed Vierling to score the winning run. Reese Olson delivered a solid start, pitching four innings with three strikeouts, while Beau Brieske secured the win and Jason Foley earned his 27th save of the season. With the victory, the Tigers improved their overall record to 85-74, and the magic number to clinch a spot in the MLB Postseason is down to two games. Miami Marlins take on Minnesota Twins later this evening, and if Miami Marlins can beat the Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers magic number to clinch an AL Wild Card Birth is down to one game.
