Despite a resilient, home-run-fueled comeback win against the first-place Brewers, the San Francisco Giants' best efforts are likely too little too late. The Giants remain 5.5 games back of the Braves, whom they would lose to in the event of a tie, with just 29 games remaining. The SF Giants could go 20-9 the rest of the way and the Braves could go 15-15, and the Giants would still not pass the Braves in the standings.However, that doesn't mean positives can't be taken away from this season. Breakout seasons by Heliot Ramos and Tyler Fitzgerald are already very real positives to take away from 2024, and another young breakout could be happening before our eyes. With each passing day, Grant McCray seems to look more and more like he belongs in the majors.
