Listen "S2 Ep 30 - Nick Toohey"
Episode Synopsis
In 2006, Nick left Nudgee College as the fastest 800m runner in the country for his age. In fact, he still holds the Nudgee record for the event at 1:48. Post school, as you could imagine Nick headed to America with huge dreams, but as the years passed by, it didn’t play out the way he had probably wished. As much as learnt abroad, injury, burnout and stress were all a prominent part of his experience in America. Although eventually dropping his 800m time sub 1:48, ultimately the challenges had become all too much. Fortunately Nick has been able to use his experiences to move from being an elite athlete into a successful coaching career; both with his group, Run the North and at Nudgee College.
