Listen "Healing Beyond Addiction: Embracing Spiritual Recovery for Lasting Transformation"
Episode Synopsis
In a captivating conversation on the LOA Today podcast, hosts Walt Thiessen and Jodielynn Craven welcomed a remarkable guest, Mary Beth, the founder of Day One Life Coaching. Mary Beth's story was a poignant testament to the power of vulnerability, resilience, and the transformative potential of the law of attraction.
From a young age, Mary Beth grappled with the challenges of being a highly sensitive child, navigating the complexities of her parents' divorce and the loss of her security blanket. This sensitivity, she shared, led her down a path of addiction, starting with her first drink at just 11 years old. "I just remember thinking, 'Oh, my gosh, this is the answer,'" Mary Beth recalled, as the alcohol provided temporary relief from her overwhelming anxiety.
As Mary Beth's journey unfolded, she experienced a profound spiritual awakening at the age of 18, which she described as a "quantum experience." This transformative event left her feeling deeply connected to the universal knowledge, yet she struggled to find guidance and understanding from those around her. "I was definitely so I'm still it was kind of like having a near-death experience, except I'm in my body, and I'm, like, talking to people, and they think I'm wack wackadoo," she shared.
Undeterred, Mary Beth embarked on a path of self-discovery and healing, eventually finding solace in the principles of the law of attraction. She shared, "Once I did heal from this and in the spiritual recovery way, I didn't do AA, nothing like that. Alcohol was huge, like we mentioned, and food addiction. And even, like most people with addictive personalities, addictive tendencies, we have more than one, right?"
Through her journey, Mary Beth learned the importance of discernment, understanding that we not only attract what we are, but also what we judge. "We don't only attract what we are, we also attract what we judge," she explained, shedding light on the intricate dynamics of relationships and personal growth.
As the conversation unfolded, Jodielynn Craven shared her own experiences with the law of attraction, particularly in the context of her pumpkin-growing competition. Jodielynn's dedication to nurturing her pumpkin, which she affectionately named "Petty," and her ability to communicate with it, resonated deeply with Mary Beth's insights on the power of connection and intention.
Throughout the discussion, Walt Thiessen skillfully guided the conversation, asking thought-provoking questions that allowed Mary Beth to share her wisdom and insights. One particularly poignant moment came when Walt acknowledged the unseen positive impact Mary Beth's work has had on people, thanking her on behalf of those she may never hear from directly.
This conversation was a powerful reminder that the journey of personal growth and transformation is not always linear, but rather a tapestry of experiences that, when woven together, can lead to profound self-discovery and healing. As Mary Beth so eloquently stated, "There's really no spiritual awakening without a healing journey. They got hand in hand."
