It’s that time of year again: Golden Week. In Japan, there are several holidays this week, and lots of people have the entire week off work.
It’s not just that everyone’s traveling around the country. It’s that everything about this week is completely unpredictable. Is a shop going to be open earlier because more people are out and about? Or will it be open later to give their employees a break too? Is a cafe going to be open on the holidays they normally take off every week because of the influx of people? Or are they closed different days of the week instead, to compensate? You just don’t know!
