Listen "Passing The Test"

Episode Synopsis

In James 1:2-4 we read, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”  (NIV)
Once we've made up our minds regarding a God-given assurance or a promise He's made, any "testing" regarding that truth ceases to matter to us. In effect, it is no longer a test because we’ve passed the test. In that area we are mature and complete. There’s no going back or even looking back to our old way of coping.
It is much like the testing that goes on to verify that a product is entirely what it purports to be. Once that is established, the testing is done. Its work is over.
Where we are being tested is in that in which we are still learning to practice a full commitment. So consider it pure joy, says the apostle James, God is using that test to bring you to the place where, having passed the test, any further testing in that area would be needless. Your commitment is unshakable, full and complete.
In view of that, perhaps a good exercise would be to envision what an unwavering commitment to God would look like in the area in which you’re being tested. Then set your sites on it and rejoice that in the testing you go through, God is getting you there as quickly as possible.
