***This podcast is casual discussion about how and why we should eat for vitality. To function at our highest capacity, our body and mind require food's that are aligned with our body and mind's needs. Foods are processed through the body, which is why we want to consume foods that are easily processed, so our body doesn't waste energy on breaking down foods. Whole foods like lentils, beans, fruits, and vegetables are easily broken down by our body and contain nutrients that help our body function well. Highly processed foods (not to be confused with easily- processed foods) are foods that take more energy and time to break down. Highly processed foods are commonly known as candy, soda, fast food, anything with high fructose corn syrup, prepackaged ice cream, etc. Sugar in general is also harder for our bodies to process, When we consume highly processed foods or sugar our bodies become depleted of energy as our body works hard to rid the toxicity of the highly processed food. Our body also undergoes a reaction from that toxicity that could be avoided by not consuming highly processes foods. The reaction may include inflammation, brain fog, acne, fatigue, stomach pain, etc, Of course, quantity and frequency of consumption matters. As well as activity levels. Although, even if you're a very active person sugar and processed foods aren't the best fuel to keep you active. I also want to note an overconsumption of food in general causes a depletion in our energy. It's helpful for our body to have rest from digestion, so energy can be put towards the process of restoration beyond the process of digestion.
