Listen "#83 Heath Shaw - AFL Cult Hero"
Episode Synopsis
This week Brian and Harrison kick things off with some of the usual chit-chat, they discuss; BT's mid-season getaway to Port Douglas, they review Jay-Z's top 50 AFL players, Tom Lynch's suspension, the SCG surface and plenty more.
Joining the boys this week is former AFL player, Heath Shaw. Heater as he's known, is an iconic character of our game, always at the centre of a good time but as hard working as they come. He grew up in a famous Collingwood family, so it was inevitable that he would land at the Pies, the club where he played in the 2010 premiership. Later in his career, he moved to GWS, where he amassed 2x All-Australian's and retired after 325 memorable games. Infamous for some of his off-field antics, he was an active member of Collingwood's 'Rat Pack', a group of players that expressed their colourful personalities with great pride, in an era of football where unique characters were few and far between.
In the 2010 Grand Final replay, Heath performed an act that is etched in footy folklore, an act of pure desperation, an act that changed the game and the course of history, we're talking about a 'Smother like no other', a smother that has made him a legend. So legendary in fact, that Toyota has honoured it by dubbing it their latest 'Legendary Moment'.
