Today’s word of the day is waterfall.

Nouns are words that we use to name things. It can be a person, a place, a thing, an
idea or concept. Therefore, waterfall is a noun.

A waterfall is a cascade of water falling, usually formed when a river or stream flows over a precipice or steep incline.

An example of waterfall used as a noun in a sentence would be:

A crowd formed to watch the elephants playing under the waterfall.

Or, She accidentally knocked over the cup, sending a waterfall of juice off the table.

Waterfall can also be used as an adjective, describing something as relating to or denoting a method of project management that is characterised by sequential stages and a fixed work plan.

An example of waterfall used as an adjective in a sentence would be:

Every phase in a waterfall project needs to be completed before moving on to the next phase.
