Today’s word of the day is trainer.

Nouns are words that we use to name things. It can be a person, a place, a thing, an
idea or concept. Therefore, trainer is a noun.

Trainer has two meanings. Firstly it is a person that trains people or animals. Secondly it is a soft sports shoe that is suitable for casual wear.

An example of trainer used as a noun in a sentence would be:

Our dog is just uncontrollable, we need to take her to a trainer so she can learn how to behave.

Or, He lost his left trainer in the field during practice and it took us thirty minutes to find it.

Synonyms: instructor, coach, teacher, sneaker, plimsoll.

Antonyms: pupil, student, novice, protege, disciple.
